if i could go back in time esssay

If I could write a letter to myself when I was younger, I think I would at least try to provide support to myself. I would say something like this: I know you are currently worrying about X, but do not bother yourself—it will all turn out great. And definitely do woo that girl: Let the past remain in the past.

In the end, if I could go back in time, I would only contemplate. Is English your native language? What is your profession? Student Teacher Writer Other. Academic Assignment Writing an Essay. We start there because that's were my Grandmother was a teen and i could pick her brain.

Not just that obvously, we start their because that's when music, fashion and just being young began to bust with life. The 60s was the decade of great music - the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Dusty Springfield, the Who - the list could go on and on. The 60s was also a time of great social change; old conventions were challenged and old attitudes faded with the decade.

The 60's was also when, fittingly, the voting age was lowered to eighteen. The 60s was also the era of rapid technological progress which is when man's first steps on the moon took place in Many people watched the event on television; a lucky few watched in colour.

Like pop music, fashion went through a revolution in the 60s, but for most women little changed in the early years of the decade. The styles of the late fifties, the Chanel suit and the full skirt were still popular.

By the middle of the 60s, the mini was in and short hair, in the geometric style of Vidal Sassoon, was the in look. By the end of the sixties, the look was long, flowing hair, hippy beads and kaftans.

So the 60's was a decade for change, excitement, revolution and discovery. OK the 70s maby not so great for music in the beginning. But For some the 70s was the golden era of British television. The 70s started where the 60s left off.

Hippy ideas and fashions were becoming part of mainstream culture. Technology progress improved home life. Including everyone with a coloured T. V and traveling abroad was available to everyone. Until the punk rockers broke out in It was new, it was outrageous but it was excitement. The young people of the 70s were braking out and screaming how they feel. The new type of music, though scary to some, was another revolution that I'm glad happened.

The 80's was known as the decade of greed,Politics and obvcorse the brick seized mobile phone one thing i wish was never invented. On the fashion side of things Japanese designers were setting the pace in the early years of the 80s. There was a trend towards looser fitting, layered clothing. Later in the 80s, power dressing and big shoulder pads influenced by the glamorous American soap, 'Dynasty' took over.

Fashion was more exclusive; it was all about designer labels. So maybe the 80's wasn't great for money and stuff but if you were into good music, like i am, it was pretty great. However, I did see him in the coffin before he was taken away. He was just peacefully sleeping. I strongly believed that he would wake up in a few days and everything would just go back to the way it had been.

I anticipated that moment, but sadly, it never happened. Five years have passed and a lot has happened. Some nights when the insomnia gets me, I stay up and imagine what it would be like if he was still alive. He never got to see my family and me move to America. He never saw me graduate from middle school or read the stories I wrote for him, knowing that we share the same passion for writing.

And most of all, I wish I could go back in time and prevent everything from happening. I wish I could even go as far back to when he was younger and tell him about the disease taking over his heart.

The least I wish I could do is spend a little more time with him and laugh at the jokes he would tell my cousin and me. Each day, I live my life cherishing the moments I share with the people I love because I never know when something can happen to them. If all of a sudden, something tragic happens to a person you care about, all that is left are the memories you had with them and these reminiscences stay with you forever.

On the other hand, what can you do if someone that was supposed to be an important part of your life passes away before you even got a chance to build memories with him? If I was given an opportunity to travel back in time to any time period or to witness any event, I would journey to Hong Kong, China during the s because that was the time when my paternal grandfather was healthiest, blissful and alive.

When I was a year old, my grandfather died of a lung infection. Nothing would be better than having a chance to get to know my grandpa. Afterwards, he went back to China, where shortly afterward, he passed away. I have always wondered what kind of person my grandfather was. Because my parents have a hard time talking about my grandfather, so many questions pop into my mind.

Have I acquired any of his personality traits or do I show any resemblance to him? Did my grandfather value education as much as I do?
